Ingredients

  • 2.00 whole Onion (halved)
  • 2.00 pinch Ginger (sliced)
  • 1.00 whole Cinnamon (stick)
  • 1.00 slices Beef Steak
  • 3.00 tablespoons Fish Sauce
  • 12.00 pinch Rice Noodles
  • 0.25 cups Basil (fresh)
  • 1.00 whole Lemon

Instructions

  1. Char onions and ginger over an open flame or under broiler
  2. Add beef bones and water to a large pot, bring to boil
  3. Add charred onions, ginger, cinnamon, star anise, and fish sauce
  4. Simmer for 2 hours, skimming foam occasionally
  5. Cook rice noodles according to package directions
  6. Slice beef steak paper-thin
  7. Place noodles in bowls, top with raw beef slices
  8. Ladle hot broth over beef to cook it
  9. Serve with basil, lime, and bean sprouts
