French Onion Soup

Ingredients

  • 4.00 whole Onion (thinly sliced)
  • 4.00 tablespoons Butter
  • 6.00 cups Beef Broth
  • 0.50 cups Red Wine
  • 3.00 liters Garlic (minced)
  • 4.00 whole Baguette (slices)
  • 1.00 cups Gruyere Cheese (shredded)
  • 1.00 teaspoons Salt

Instructions

  1. Slice onions thinly
  2. Melt butter in a large pot and add onions with salt
  3. Cook onions on medium-low heat for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until caramelized
  4. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute
  5. Pour in beef broth and red wine, simmer for 15 minutes
  6. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls, top with bread and cheese
  7. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly
