Cuisine: Italian
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
- 2.00 can Whole Canned Tomatoes (This recipe uses #10 cans)
- 150.00 grams Tomato Paste
- 100.00 grams Garlic Oil
- 57.00 grams Red Wine Vinegar
- 125.00 grams Garlic (Grated fine)
- 32.00 grams Dried Oregano
- 5.00 grams Dried Basil
- 6.00 grams Sugar
- 5.00 grams Onion Powder
- 4.00 grams Chili Flakes
- 35.00 grams Salt
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook grated garlic in the garlic oil over medium-low heat until fragrant (no color)
- Add in the tomato paste and continue to cook until it begins to caramelize. Some browning on the bottom of the pan is normal, however lower the heat if you notice any areas beginning to burn (this will taint the final sauce).
- Add in the two #10 cans of whole tomatoes.
- Add all of the dried herbs and spices into the pot.
- Mix until well combined then gently simmer, covered, for 2-3 hours or until the whole tomatoes have broken down and your desired taste is reached.
